preparations...

We have 3 months left until our baby girl comes! It is really fun getting things ready for her arrival. I decided I would try to make her bedding so she would have something special from her mommy. I looked all over the internet for ideas and colors that I liked for her room. I didn't want anything with too much pink but I wanted fun bright colors and, for some reason I am obsessed with little birdies right now so I wanted little birds on the bedding too. Well, amazingly, I found a crib bedding from Pottery Barn that I fell in love with! After shipping and taxes, it would have cost about $250 and I knew I could make it for much cheaper and use the money I saved on a new comfy rocker or something. Here is a pic of what I wanted:
and this is the one I made:
It started out like this:
I copied the Pottery barn quilt as best I could. I still have to make the bumper and I think I will buy the fitted sheet and a crib skirt to go with it. These little birdies on the branches took the longest! It is not exactly how I hoped it would turn out, but I think it's still pretty cute!
There is still a lot of work to do before she gets here. Right now, Logan is in the nursery, but he and Noah will soon have bunk beds and share Noah's room so I can girlify the nursery! As soon as it is done, I will share pics of the big reveal.

Sledding!

Jason had New Year's Eve off and we still had lots of snow on the ground so we decided to take the boys sledding. It was such a nice sunny day, we headed to a hill right by our house and as soon as we got out of the car, our faces were freezing! It looked like a nice day but the wind was so cold! We ended up doing just a few runs down the hill but the boys really enjoyed it.

Christmas 2010

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Jason's parents slept over on Christmas Eve so they could watch the boys get their gifts from Santa, it was lots of fun having them here! We opened our new Christmas jammies and a game for the family, (ants in the pants). Before bedtime we read the story, "Twas the night before Christmas", then Daddy taught the boys about the nativity and Christ's birth. The the boys set out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer, then it was off to bed to await his arrival. I was able to sneak a peak at what Santa brought the boys: Here is Logan's side, here is what Noah got, I'll let the pictures explain the rest, there are a lot!
The boys each got pillow pets, Logan got a monkey and Noah a ladybug. He told me probably 10 times that he wanted a ladybug pillowpet because it is red. Jason makes fun of him for it but I think it's cute!
Jason got a Playstation 3 and he got me an ipod docking station and a food processor that I have been wanting for a while. We then headed to Jason's parents house to open more presents! This was Noah's favorite from Grandma and Grandpa: We were all very spoiled this year and had a wonderful time spent with family.
