you sew crazy!

I have been doing a lot of sewing projects lately that are not related to my Etsy shop and wanted to share them here.

For Allies birthday, I decided to make her a quilt. I know I said I probably would never make another quilt, but I found the cutest design and had to try! The only tedious, not-fun part was the binding because I did it by hand and I am not very good at sewing by hand! Here is a link to the tutorial I used. I love how it turned out!I quilted it by hand in a zig zag pattern using different colored threads to match the quilt. For the back, I used an aqua damask flannel so it would be nice and soft for Allie. With the scraps from the quilt, I made this fun birthday bunting banner for the party. I have so many fabric scraps that I have been stuffing into a drawer in my sewing room. Well, the drawer was full and I was having a hard time finding the scraps I needed, when I needed them. I decided to make a couple of fabric bins to hold the scraps by color. I still need 2 more bins but I think these turned out so cute!

This is a curtain I made for Allie's room. When I saw this fabric, I knew exactly where it would go! It adds a lot of color and fun to her room. (Can you tell I am crazy for chevron at the moment?) As another gift her birthday, I made Allie a little party dress. I found a peasant top pattern online, then modified it for a dress and added the sash with the flower. It made a perfect dress for the birthday girl!

Allie's birthday

Allie's birthday was on Easter this year, but we tried to make sure it was still a special day for her. We blew up a bunch of balloons and put them in her room so that when she woke up, she would see all of the balloons! She absolutely loved it!For breakfast, I made waffles which are Allie's favorite things to eat. We had a little birthday party for her with lots of family and enjoyed celebrating Allie's special day. Cute Lydia helping Allie get those presents open! Uncle Nic and Logan playing with one of Allie's new toys. She got lots of really cute new clothes, an adorable tea set, a baby stroller and some movies.While we sang Happy Birthday to her, she swiped a handful of frosting and was pretty pleased with herself!She ate every last bit of her cake! It was so fun to be able to have my family here from California to visit while we celebrated Allie's big day. Had to take a pic of the decorations, so I can remember in the future. We all missed not having Grandpa Dean there. I know he would have been playing with and tickling the kids. He had a 4-wheeler accident the day before and was, unfortunately in the hospital. We are saying our prayers in hopes that he has a full and quick recovery.

Easter fun

Easter was so fun this year! The boys did an Easter egg hunt for the eggs that we colored the night before and then had to hunt for their Easter baskets. They each got new Sunday outfits, something fun in their baskets and (unfortunately) lots of candy! Allie didn't get candy but did get some cute new little toys and books.

She tried very hard to get to the boys' candy! We also got to go to my Aunt Lori's home and have a big Easter egg hunt with all of the cousins. 12 months

Allie had her 12 month well child check-up on Monday. Here are her stats:

I've been taking a picture of her for every month, and it is amazing how much a baby can change in just 1 year!
